Elective Field Trip Details
Our elective field trips on Friday, October 18, 1pm, and Monday, October 21, 10am, to Compassionate Composting, run by Michelle Melaragno is near 576 Trapp Road in nearby Auburn.
Melaragno, a long-time rider, vet assistant, and barn manager, is at the forefront of equine composting and has presented at the American Association of Equine Practitioners. Listen to this interview as Michelle was recently honored as one of “20 Outstanding Women” in Maine.
Directions to Compassionate Composting site:
From exit 75 off Interstate 95 (or Concord Coach Line, if anyone comes in that way):
1) LEFT onto Washington St North for 0.4 mile
2) RIGHT onto Danville Corner Rd for 1.7 miles
3) RIGHT onto Pownal Rd for 0.4 mile
4) RIGHT onto Trapp Rd for 1.5 miles
Driveway to compost pad is on LEFT, marked by two orange traffic cones and Best Horse Practices Summit signage.
Please note that you may put 576 Trapp Rd., Auburn, into your GPS or phone map application, but that the composting site is another 1,000 feet south of that address.
